Vicky and Jun's story
Vicky and Jun had a vision, but it was far from the cookie-cutter houses they saw on every street. They dreamed of a home that was both a quiet retreat and a place to enjoy time with family and friends.
Their search for the right architectural design partner led them to Reynard Custom Homes. James Knight was able to connect with Vicky and Jun's concept for their home and bring a creative approach to design that allowed them to build their dream home within their budget.

Modern Harmony in the Trees
The exterior of the Transart residence establishes a striking modern silhouette that respects its rugged, wooded setting.
The façade is a study in material contrast, pairing crisp white architectural paneling with the organic warmth of vertical wood siding. A flat roofline with dark fascia underscores the home’s low-profile, horizontal emphasis, allowing it to tuck quietly into the surrounding canopy.
The entry sequence is defined by a broad, curving concrete walkway that leads to a sheltered porch supported by dark, slender columns. A massive glass front door with black steel framing serves as a transparent portal, instantly blurring the boundary between the outdoors and the interior.
Grounding the geometric precision of the architecture, the landscaping features natural boulders, ornamental grasses, and native evergreens, softening the transition from the built environment to the forest floor.

"We didn't want anything that would be considered 'cookie cutter'. It had to be a truly unique home."
Embracing a "moody modern" aesthetic, defined by high-contrast design choices. The focal point of the room is a vibrant mustard-yellow sectional sofa with button-tufted back cushions, accompanied by a matching large ottoman and a smaller round pouf. This bright furniture piece stands out dramatically against the room's matte black (or deep charcoal) walls.
Behind the sofa, large picture windows allow natural light to flood the space. The windows are dressed with white floor-to-length curtains, which are tied back in three symmetrical sections to reveal the view outside.
The view through the glass connects the interior to the exterior landscaping, showing the tall ornamental grasses and concrete retaining wall seen in the previous exterior images. The room is finished with light oak-tone flooring and flanked by two gold/brass globe pendant lights hanging from the ceiling on either side of the window.
A blend of contemporary design and natural textures in this stunning mountain modern home. The exterior showcases a striking contrast between warm, vertical wood cladding and a sleek, charcoal standing-seam metal roof. A spacious covered balcony, framed by minimalist black railings, offers a serene outdoor living space complete with modern lounge seating.
Below, the sloped lot is expertly managed with xeriscape-inspired landscaping, featuring large boulders, ornamental grasses, and stone steps that integrate the architecture seamlessly into its wooded surroundings.

Transart is a sprawling home situated on a sloped lot. The architectural style leans heavily into Contemporary/Mountain Modern design, characterized by clean lines, a mix of industrial and natural materials, and a low-profile silhouette that integrates into the surrounding environment.
The home features a prominent standing-seam metal roof in a dark grey or charcoal tone. The rooflines are primarily "shed"- style (single-slope), with deep overhangs that provide shade and emphasize the structure horizontal breadth.
The Garage (Left Wing):
- To the left creates a distinct volume finished in smooth white stucco or paneling.
-
It houses a large three-car garage. The garage doors are modern and dark, featuring horizontal frosted glass panels that allow light in while maintaining privacy.
-
Small, rectangular sconce lights are mounted above the garage doors.
