This Family of Three Designed A Way to Age in Place and Support Each Other
"Chamblee Gap" – A Multi-Generational Custom Craftsman in Cumming, GA
Designed with family, accessibility, and the future in mind, the "Chamblee Gap" project in Cumming, Georgia, is a beautiful example of purpose-driven architecture by Reynard Custom Homes.
Led by lead architectural designer James Knight, this custom single-story home was brilliantly conceived to allow a family of three to seamlessly "age in place" while balancing familial connection with personal independence.
The exterior boasts a welcoming Modern Craftsman aesthetic, featuring light, classic lap siding grounded by a rustic cultured stone skirt. A sweeping, curved concrete walkway leads to a prominent covered front entrance, highlighted by striking natural wood timber trusses that add warmth and architectural grandeur.
Beyond its beautiful facade lies a highly functional, bespoke floor plan. The main living area is cleverly attached to a separate, fully autonomous 700-square-foot apartment for the clients' adult son.
Complete with its own private entrance, kitchen, and laundry, this wing provides total independence, while a discreet connecting interior door ensures safety and closeness. It is a masterful, collaborative design that perfectly answers the unique needs of multi-generational living without sacrificing style.
